Strengthen Your Spiritual Care through Engaging the Three Gates of Awakening: Body, Speech and Mind

statue of buddha

In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the Three Gates of Body, Speech, and Mind are our means of expressing the consciousness we interact with the world through. This talk will unpack the conventional and ultimate meaning in a way that will focus on enhancing our ability to serve others in a sustainable way. Intentionally engaging these Three Gates in everything we do, think, and say in the world bolsters us from the pitfalls of spiritual bypass and burnout. In doing so we align our being with that which is greater than us – the energy of the Divine, Creator, our Buddha Nature, etc.

A private zoom link will be emailed by Thursday, Apr 13th end of day. Registration closes Saturday, Apr 15th @ 9am PT. This event will be recorded and a link will be sent to all registrants to view up until 30 days after.

Proceeds go to sustain the ongoing work of the Living/Dying Project.

Teaching: Steady on the Path: Shantideva’s First Three Chapters

“Integrating the teachings is the most important factor as we proceed on the Bodhisattva Path. We will discover and discuss in detail how, in these challenging times, we can continually ‘refresh’ our perspectives and stay aligned with the course that Shantideva maps out for us.

Our three-session class will encompass the first three chapters of Shantideva’s classic text The Bodhicaryavatara. These first three provide an entrance to living a life that inhabits all the main elements of the Bodhisattva Path, starting with prioritizing the Awakened Mind/heart, Bodhicitta.

The format of each session will be a presentation of materials first, followed with group discussion.”

Teaching: Session One “Buddha’s Unsurpassable Medicine: Exploring the Eightfold Path

From sukhasiddhi.org

“We enter the Eightfold Path through the Fourth Noble Truths-- the Truth of the Path Out of Suffering. In the framework of the Buddha being the Physician, the Eightfold Path is the Medicine which eases the suffering from the endless sea of samsara. This Eightfold Path is our map to Awakening, our Timeless Medicine.

These eight guidelines show us areas in our lives we can implement to refine our attunement toward the cultivation of Bodhicitta. These guidelines are expansive, not restrictive, and when practiced, enable a life that both gives and receives love, awareness, and compassionate understanding in the greatest ways possible to us. It is within the Eightfold Path where we meet the Paramitas, because this path leads from the shore of an egoic, samsaric entrapment to the shore of immeasurable freedom of a life of interconnection and awakening.

As we build our moment-to-moment awareness, our mindfulness expands and engages the transformation of our spirit, aligning our horizontal engagement in the world and our communities with the vertical alignment with our own Buddha nature. The format of each session will be a presentation of materials first, followed with group discussion.”
